Celebrate International Day of the Girl - help girls all over the world shoot for the stars!
/On this International Day of the Girl, we celebrate the work of Juarez & Associates and the Ministry of Education in Guatemala. SIL LEAD has had the privilege of supporting the efforts of these organizations as they’ve used Bloom to produce books for children in the languages they most use and understand. Their Bloom Library bookshelf already contains nearly 600 Bloom books, and so far this year has had over 320,000 reads and over 21,000 downloads.
One of these books is titled “Estrella,” which means "Star." It is available in both Spanish and Q’eqchi’, and tells the story of a curious little girl named Estrella who takes an interest in astronomy.
When she asks her teacher if there are women who are astronauts, her teacher tells her that there are. Her teacher tells her that one has to study very hard to become an astronaut, and that she too can become an astronaut. This makes Estrella very happy. It inspires her to study hard and to dream!
You can view the book for yourself HERE.
Just click on the icon of a globe at the top right to select whether you want to view the book in Spanish or Q’eqchi’. Or better yet — download the book, translate it into another language in Bloom Editor, and upload the translated book to Bloom Library to encourage girls who speak and read another language to study hard and to dream big.
Once you've done that (or even before!) don’t hesitate! If you have another story you'd like to write and share with girls around the world, Bloom is ready and waiting — the perfect tool to share stories that will educate and inspire!
